The Last Few Weeks...

Okay, so I was thinking....I haven't posted about anything that I have been doing in my life for weeks now! So here I am, I posted a few pictures just to sum up what has been going on....well at least some of the more exciting things that go on :)

Heather and I made Philly Cheesesteak Sandwhiches for dinner on Saturday...they were oh so yummy, money saving, and hey we have to learn more recipes for when we get married!! Whoot whoot!

The close up view...Mmmm :)

This is my yummy Italian Creme cake that I made Sunday night, it was
DE-LICOUS!!! Oh so fluffy and moist, topped with toasted walnuts and a creme cheese frosting...Mmmm, so much for my diet...

Last weekend was my Dady'os birthday! Can you guess how old he is???? 48!

The monkey himself...see what I mean?? Aww what a cute monkey :)

Three weeks ago I got to hang out with Sonya at her sister's bday party sleep over! We made sleepover cupcakes and ate way too many sweets! Such a fun night!

For Christmas Conrad's Mommy got me this ADORABLE purse and missionary plaque that she made (Pictured below).... I just loved it!!

And my other favorite gift was this "Families are Forever" picture that my parents got me to put up in my new house to match my temple picture. I absolutely love it and can't wait to put it up! (Sorry, Blogger wouldn't rotate it for some weird reason.)

How My Love Story Began

This is another one of my writing assignments for class. I was able to write about whatever I wanted this time so I chose to write about how the love story of Conrad and I began. It's pretty corny, so don't laugh! Haha, just kidding you can laugh, I do! Enjoy because I certainly enjoyed replaying these memories in my head to write them for you :)

It was a Sunday and I was new in the ward. I was on my way to Sunday school, the door opened and there he was. I did not know it yet, but this boy was going to be my high school sweet heart, love of my life and someday eternal companion. At the time I just thought he was a cute yet shy boy. Oh if only I knew.

Time passed and we became friends. We rode the same bus to school, went to the same church, and his mom was even my young women’s president. Our friendship became stronger over the years. We would walk together to class and talk to each other whenever possible. I remember always wanting him, wishing that I could be his. But I always thought that there was no way he would ever like me the way that I liked him. I was just not cute enough or good enough for him. Time went on and I learned to love him only as a friend. I would even try to set my friends up with him because I thought he was so wonderful, yet my friends never found that interest in him the way that I did. Thank goodness for that.

After being good friends for two years, something happened. The way he teased me was different, there was something about the way he smiled at me. I wondered if he was starting to feel the same way I was too but thought, “Nah, it’s just me”. Oh little did I know what was about to come my way. One day he and his friends thought it would be funny if we pretended that we were “going out” to tease one of his friends who happened to like me. The plan was to walk up to our group of friends in the school hall while we were holding hands. This was supposed to get his friends’ attention and make him jealous. Well I of course was fine by this and was surprised when he was too. When he grabbed my hand I felt a lump in my throat and butterflies started to flutter in my stomach. I had the biggest smile on my face and there was no hiding it. Sure enough his friend fell for the trick but even after finding out it was a joke he continued to hold my hand. The following day he thought it would be funny to tease his friend again by doing the same thing. I personally think he just wanted to hold my hand again. After that day things began to fall into place. One day while walking to class I just could not hold it in any longer and told him straight out, “ I like you!”. He smiled and said he knew it because he could tell. So I smiled back and told him that I could tell he liked me too, he laughed and told me I was right. I couldn’t believe my ears, was this really happening to me?

And that’s how it all began. We were corny kids in high school and I suppose you could say we are still pretty corny. We write silly love notes, laugh at each other‘s dumb jokes, and I still melt whenever I hear his voice. It all began my Junior year and we haven’t been apart since. We have been together for four and a half years now and plan on getting married in October. A dream come true! Finally!

Feeling a little blue?

This is an essay I had to write for one of my online classes i'm taking called Personal Writing. I'm taking it during my winter intersession so it's only about a month long, which means assignments everyday! That's right, I have to write an essay at least 6 times a week. I kinda liked this one, it's a little random and I haven't written anything like it before. So enjoy and comment if you would like!

Why is it that people get depressed? Shouldn’t they realize that they are not feeling too good so they need to get out of the house and get some fresh air? Go run, get your blood pumping. You’re body will feel so much better if you run and stop dwelling on the negative in your life. According to MayoClinic.com, research has proven that only 30 minutes of exercise a day can dramatically improve depression symptoms. It may not cure it but it improves it immensely. Researchers are not sure how it all works but some evidence suggests that exercise raises the levels of certain mood-enhancing neurotransmitters in the brain. Exercise does a lot more for your body as well. “It increases feel-good endorphins, helps you sleep better, and releases tension on muscles.”

Another thing that works immensely is serving others. Rather than thinking about all that is wrong in your life, go find somebody else out in the world and see how much worse theirs may be. Now that may not sound right, but think about it. It works. Now take that person who has life harder than yours and find a way to make their day or week better. You will find a joy in doing this. Making someone else’s life better also makes yours better. Here is a fun fact, did you know that calling someone by name when saying hi to them can completely turn their day around? It is true. You are also more likely to get an effective and more positive response when using their name. Now look, that is a two way win!

These few points I have brought up may not completely cure depression. But that is not what my point is. My point is that people need to find a way to be happy. If you are not feeling so great about life then do something different! Make it more exciting, find joy in the little things. Sometimes life gets so busy that there is no time for great, exciting things. But there is always time for happiness. Dwelling on the negative never gets anybody anywhere. People need to relax and learn that sometimes it just is not worth it to get uptight over or upset about. The world we live in is full of mistakes, if we are all getting upset with little mistakes what is going to happen when big mistakes happen? Someone may have a heart attack!

This essay is a little random. It is not just about depression, exercise, or mood swings. It is just a reminder that we all need to take a chill pill and enjoy life. Life is wonderful and beautiful, enjoy it while you can.

GUESS WHAT???

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!

Guess what????

CONRAD COMES HOME THIS YEAR!!!!!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!
